When the owner of this much-loved Poowong home came to us, the brief was clear: improve the way the kitchen and laundry function, without losing the character and history that made the home feel like hers. Part of the house had originally been built by her father, making this renovation as much about what deserved to remain as what needed to change.
The existing layout remained largely familiar, with considered adjustments creating better storage, balance and everyday functionality. The kitchen window was repositioned to work more naturally within the cabinetry, creating additional storage while framing the sunset beyond. Lighter tones brought much-needed light into the space, while custom joinery, Brazilian Emerald natural stone, White Burst bench-tops and traditional detailing allowed the new kitchen to sit comfortably within the character of the older home.
From the first conversation to the finished kitchen, The Heirloom came together in approximately 12 weeks. Behind that transformation was a carefully managed process of design, selections, final measurements, custom ordering, local manufacture and installation, with the cabinetry made in our Australian Made & Owned certified Leongatha workshop.
The result goes well beyond a new kitchen and laundry. From once feeling hesitant to have people over to now inviting friends around for cake, the home has become somewhere to gather again. The Heirloom is a reminder that a successful renovation isn’t just about how a space looks, it’s about how it changes the way you live within it.
