The W Family, Inverloch
For the W Family, the move from Melbourne to Inverloch wasn't just a sea change - it was a reinvention. Their modest holiday home became the foundation for something far more ambitious: a two-storey forever home with enough space to host children, grandchildren and everyone in between. With their own building designer and builder managing the construction, they came to Dan Bruce and the team at Leongatha Kitchens & Bathrooms with a clear vision for the spaces that mattered most - the kitchen and laundry - and trusted us to bring it to life.
The brief called for a kitchen that felt both extraordinary and effortlessly liveable. Inspired by Californian design, the clients wanted generous proportions, considered storage and a strong visual identity - something that would anchor the open upper level and set the tone for the whole home. Dan translated that vision into a deep navy and white scheme built around a solid wall of V-grooved panelling, a concealed butler's pantry accessed through a hidden door, and a custom range hood tucked beneath a striking circular pendant that commands the room. Large thick shelving, custom mouldings and considered joinery details bring an American influence that feels collected and deliberate rather than trend-driven.
The laundry tells a quieter but equally considered story. Sage green cabinetry, a cottage sink, warm timber finishes, a marble benchtop and white tile splashback combine to create a space that feels genuinely coastal - practical enough for a busy household, but too beautiful to hide away.
Contracted for the cabinetry design and installation only, we worked closely alongside the owner-builder team - completing all design documentation upfront, then stepping in at plaster stage to deliver and install. The result is a home that moves seamlessly from good to extraordinary, exactly as the W Family always imagined it would.
